While Abu Simbel does not have free entry days like some European museums, there are concessions available for students and young children. This page outlines the eligibility criteria for reduced-price tickets.

Eligibility for Discounts

Reduced Tickets

    • Students: Foreign students are eligible for a reduced ticket price (currently 320 EGP, approximately 50% off the adult price). A valid student identification card with a photo and clear expiry date must be presented at the ticket office.

Free Entry

    • Children: Children under the age of 6 are typically granted free entry to the Abu Simbel temples.

Please note that there are no general discounts for seniors or other categories of visitors.

How to Claim Your Discount

Discounts must be claimed in person at the ticket counter at Abu Simbel. You cannot purchase reduced-price tickets in advance online.

For Students: You must present your original, valid student ID card when purchasing your ticket. Photocopies are not accepted. The ID must clearly show your name, photo, the name of your educational institution, and a valid date.

If you book a tour with us and are eligible for a student discount, please let us know. Our guides can assist you at the ticket office, but you will still need to present your ID. The price difference will be refunded to you.

Does an ISIC (International Student Identity Card) work?
Yes, an ISIC card is widely accepted as valid proof of student status at archaeological sites in Egypt, including Abu Simbel.
My student ID doesn't have an expiry date. Is it still valid?
This can be problematic. Ticket office staff have the final say, and they often require an ID with a clear validity period. It is best to have an ID that meets this requirement to avoid disappointment.
